A Day in the Life: My First Shift

Firefighter Jimmy Townsend is no longer a recruit. He is now a sworn member of Cobb County Fire and Emergency Services and is officially a Probationary Firefighter. Follow Firefighter Townsend on his first-ever 24-hour shift. He is assigned to Station 4 C-Shift, off Cumberland Blvd near Interstate 285.

Cobb Fire Recruit Class 58: High-Rise Day

Recruit Class 58 recently completed high-rise training. The recruits learned about how to attack a fire inside a structure that is five stories or taller. Recruits learned about standpipes, sprinklers, fire pumps and elevator rescues.

Cobb Fire Training Spotlight: Apparatus Operator Pumper Course

Follow Firefighter Kendall Watts, from Station 30 A-shift, as he completes the Apparatus Operator Pumper Course, which is an NPQ-Level class taught in-house by Cobb Fire instructors. Upon completion, Firefighter Watts, and the four other members of the class, received a national certification for the course.

Cobb Fire Recruit Class 58 recently completed Firefighter Survival Week, which is one of the most grueling weeks of the fire academy. The recruits then finished the week with high-rise training.
